CONNECTING KHALIJ-E-FARS LAKE TO CHITGAR PARK COMPETITION

Tehran – IRAN

Spring 2018

.

Regarding the 31-hectares area of the project and also the way it’s been extended from East to West, constructing a bridge in order to connect the Southern edge of the Persian Gulf Lake to the Northern edge of Chitgar Urban Park neither can be counted as an attractive possible solution to this project, nor it can play a critical role in creating a successful urban place to attract people to use it. Therefore, the users should be provided with a place that bears the following factors, all of which are the most influential ones in a favorable urban project:

  • Ease of access
  • Regarding the pathway of passengers and creating various viewpoints
  • Creating attractive perspectives for further passengers/viewers
  • Participation of people, and diversity of functions
  • Usable for various range of ages
  • Usable for the whole day
  • Convenience of the space, where the user is able to simply percept the security
  • Creating friendly zones and make an impact on the visual memory of individuals
  • Creating family hangouts
  • Inducting the sense of belonging
  • To fulfill at least a part of users’ recreational necessities

The mentioned factors leads to create two bridges and a pathway above Hakim tunnel. Such a decision in the design process has helped to reduce the aggregation of people in one zone. On the other hand, the creation of places such as food court, a huge greenhouse, and a few playgrounds resulted in variety of spaces. In other words, the users are given the chance of choosing where to be or to wander. The process of choosing would itself influence people in a way they feel that they play an important role in the project, which means they would feel the sense of belonging. Furthermore, variety of spaces and distribution of people in those various spaces, has made every zone of the project more living and more dynamic. Apart from that, the project would not have any places left unused.
